A male and female faculty members working together at a computer

Description

Experience online learning before becoming an online teacher. The Teaching Online in Higher Education* workshop is offered by the Center for Distance Learning at the University of Texas-Pan American, in association with the Hispanic Educational Telecommunications System (HETS).

This workshop will introduce best pedagogical practices in teaching online including hands-on exercises in designing effective online courses. Participants will be immersed in the online environment through the use of discussion boards, web-searches, email, and chats. In addition, the use of innovative technology will enable live virtual classrooms as a meeting place for students, guest speakers, and instructors.

This training is designed to be completed within six weeks. Consistent and frequent participation is the key to successfully integrating the training lessons, exercises, topics and discussions. At the end of the course, participants will receive a certificate of successful completion.
